About the Role

The Field Service Technician is responsible for technical and field support and communications between
Wind Worx and its customers. The main focus will be building (and refining) a team to manage and support
torque warranty claims for the wind turbines. Later, the scope may evolve to include warranty support
for the industrial business. The Field Service Department plays an integral role in the organization by
supporting all facets of the business.

Requirements

  • Performs wind turbine mechanical, electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and repairs (main, pitch and yaw gearboxes)

  • Assists with removal and installation of wind turbine mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components.

  • Interface closely with the Field Service Coordinator. 

  • Completes the required reports and other paperwork, most of which require computer entry. 

  • Maintains adherence to Company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices. 

  • Maintains proper care of Company tools and vehicles. 

  • Demonstrates the ability to learn advanced troubleshooting and repair. 

  • Experience with GE 1.5-1.7, Vestas, Gamesa, and Siemens towers. 

  • Ability to write routine reports.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and work procedures.

  • Ability to understand and follow customary instructions in order to perform the essential functions of the position in a satisfactory manner.

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanica drawings and schematics.


Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to handle or feel ; reach within distance.

  • The employee must be capable of lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds. 

  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and drug/alcohol screening. 

  • Must be capable of rescuing teammates anyhwere in the tower in the event of an emergency with proper training.

  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions (hot and cold). 

  • Has the ability to climb and work atop freestanding wind turbine towers that exceed 300 feet in height and potentially do this multiple times per day.


Education Certs Qualifications:

  • Technical certs from any Wind program or school is a plus

  • Osha 10

  • First Aid/CPR

  • Confined Space

  • LOTO
